Podiatric Routine Nail Care
At The Wellness Spot we aim to provide a higher quality care and compassion and is an alternative option for routine Podiatric care. As we age, routine nail care and debridement should be performed by a medical professional as part of our regular preventive care routine. It's even more important to visit a medical professional if you or a loved one has diabetes, which can cause problems with circulation and healing as well as infections in the feet.

What is a routine Podiatry (foot care) appointment?
Routine Podiatry: includes all methods of managing your foot health including nail management, hard skin, callus, corns, dry skin. Reduction in length of normal or thickened toenails, simple trimming of the end of the toenails by cutting or grinding. Buffering the surface or the edges of manually trimmed mycotic (fungal infection) should also be performed. This also includes an assessment of your vascular status.

Treatment of these conditions may pose a risk when performed by a non-professional person, especially on individuals with a systemic condition that has resulted in compromised circulation and/or areas of desensitization in the legs or feet.

Nail debridement: is the reduction in the thickness and length of the toenail with the aim of allowing the patient to ambulate (walk) without pain. This is a distinct service from routine nail care and should be performed by a medical professional.
